Chair yoga is a revolutionary concept designed to make the numerous benefits of classical yoga available to a wider range of physical abilities. It is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support.
Our Chair Yoga classes are ideal for anyone over the age of 50, or those who suffer from reduced movement. Frequently the chair yoga student is unable to participate in a traditional yoga class due to the effects of aging or disabilities. However, Chair yoga is a great practise for everyone, as it deepens flexibility and strengthens personal body. Come along and meet like-minded others, form strong friendships, have fun and most of all improve your health and quality of life!
Many benefits can be gained from attending a our chair yoga class as it can increase energy levels, flexibility and ease from many symptoms of pain and discomfort like Arthritis, back pain, neck problems, Diabetes, high blood pressure Sciatica, and Asthma.
Many problems associated with ageing such as circulatory disorders, arthritis and digestive complaints are a result of lack of exercise, poor eating habits and shallow breathing. The adapted and modified yoga postures provide elasticity to the spine, firming up the skin, removing tension from the body, strengthening the abdominal muscles, and improve the quality of muscle tone and correct bad posture.
Our chair yoga classes also help develop breathing techniques which help older people deal much easier with the demands of modern life.

Our chair yoga classes take place at Sky Blue Yoga Studio in Stafford at the Northfields Village. Classes occur weekly, every Thursday, 11.30-12.30pm.
